How is it that Christians say they believe in Jesus Christ yet they are far from being anything like him.  When I say that I believe in someone that means that I respect them in every instance.  I trust them to make wise decisions and to be an example to myself and my loved ones as a person we can aspire to become.  So do we really believe in Jesus?  I mean we've excepted his grace and we know that it is sufficent for all, but do we aspire to become like this man who lived and died for us in the name of un-conditional love.  This man named Jesus had no home and didn't mind to aspire as something that people didn't want him to be.  From day one I've been told that I need to get good grades to have a job and a house and security.  Jesus is never concerned with security...he is only concerned that we realize our security can only come through the spiritual means.  Our security is only aquired through the knowledge that we are children of God.  If God feeds the sparrows then he will obviously feed us.  He loves us so much that he knows the number of hairs on our head.  So I am kind of angry right now and confused.  Are we as Christians completely missing the boat here.  Are we forgeting that the fact that our Bible tells us to reach out to the poor and the oppressed 2000 times?  So what are the issues people?  Are we so concerned that homosexuals are going to get married while our world is on the brink of world war III?  Colin Powell was quoted by saying that a nation is never strong enough to resist terrorism unless we fight the war against poverty.  On Sundays we worship this revolutionary man who won the world over through love and through non-violence yet we send our sons to fight and to kill in the named of God.  We declare that they are evil and that they are going to hell for their sins.  What about our sins?  4,000 americans died on 9/11 and that is tragic, but I don't think it's as tragic as the children that die of hunger every 16 seconds.   Americans spend more on trash bags than half of the world spends on their goods alone...I'm finally starting the realize where we live and it's scary.  Everyone says that history repeats itself and it's happening right now.  We are the Roman Empire...But the United States in 2006 stands apart from any time in history right now as a nation that has the most concentrated recourses, power and money.  It also stands apart as a nation state that has the means to end poverty as long as people are willing to get outside theirself.  As long as people are willing to sacrifice their security and stop being so damn selfish with their money.  Do we realize how easy it could have been for anyone of us to be born in africa and born with aids?  Jesus calls us to help them...it all breaks my heart...or that the Taliban are forced to be in this terrorist group because they have no other means to feed their families....so we bomb them???  I want to live differently...I want to be a little bit more like Jesus....

All in Love,
Tim
